Other features include: waste management centralized garbage disposal system, landscaping using rainwater harvesting system, electric vehicle charging station (2 units), multi-tier security system, and LED lighting at all common areas.

Not only does the developers take into consideration of the young and old, they also take into account the impact on Earth. Thus, they have developed a plan to incorporate green features into this project. The paints used in the units will have low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs include a wide range of chemicals which can bring about short and long-term adverse health effects according to US Environmental Protection Agency. With a low level of VOCs used in the paint, residents will be able to stay in their unit comfortably.

The pneumatic waste collection system is also a unique feature to M Luna. The collection cycle starts at the loading point of the service apartments, where garbage is put through a hopper door into a vertical pipe (aka. garbage chute). Once the chute is full, a computer-controlled vacuum exhauster will decrease the pressure in the pipe till it is negative. This will move the garbage out of the pipe and into a central collection point.

The system also incorporated a water sprinkler to clean the garbage chute. This will be activated according to the conditions and extra discharging may be set up when there is a higher waste output. With this system, the odour of the garbage will be reduced.

A multi-tier security system is being developed to ensure that the residents will not have to worry about the safety of themselves and their families. This security system will be able to track visitors as well as food delivery personnel and e-hailing drivers. How this works is that there will be a QR code for visitors to scan upon entry and they will have to leave the premises with a certain timing. After the predetermined duration has passed, security guards will be able to track their location within the premises and inquire about their reason for overstaying at the residence.

The Name

In Latin, ‘Luna’ refers to ‘moon’. It is also the name of a Roman goddess of the moon. The name ‘Luna’ came across as the most suitable one despite having many other names thrown out by the developer. The developer wanted a name that would seamlessly suit the environment as the project is located next to 95ha Kepong Metropolitan Park, which has a 57ha lake that is a hot spot among nearby residents for kite-flying and fishing.
